About Us

A Message from Karley, our Co-Founder

"the building of character is truly the highest priority in shaping a child"

The greatest inspiration for Fresh Start has been my four children, Evangeline, Cypress, Boaz, and Jeremiah. My main prerogative was to provide them with the greatest food and education. To educate them, I studied common core, classical learning, the montessori method, and the 7 philosophies of education. To create the best diet, I leveraged the most reputable nutritionists and resources.

After filtering through these different philosophies, patching together the framework of a beautiful mosaic, I came to the conclusion that the building of character is truly the highest priority in shaping a child. And unfortunately, vital characteristics such as integrity, hard work, selflessness, empathy, courage, gratitude and self-awareness cannot be fully taught or actualized through pen and paper, behind a desk, or even reading a book.

The molding of an exceptional individual requires an intentional teacher, healthy diet, and hands-on learning..  Our farm has proven itself to be just the place where these ideals of education become a reality, and we are so excited to share this farm with other kids in our community.

What Drives Us

We are passionate about giving underserved children in our community the best opportunity to succeed in life, and we believe that this starts with what they eat. We can personally attest to the power of improving daily eating habits, with benefits including new unlocked energy, sharper memory, enhanced stability, and augmented mental capacity.

And even beyond these immediate results, there are long-term benefits to be gleaned, as well. For example, in recent years, science has pointed to the likelihood that neurological conditions such as Alzheimer's Disease may be correlated to blood sugar dysregulation and metabolic disorder, yielding it the new moniker, "type 3 diabetes."

Our fear is that this scary cause-and-effect relationship between poor diet and impaired mental capacity will continue to play out in an ever-escalating cycle within our community, threatening its bright future. We believe now, more than ever, kids need to hear that timeless saying, once heard at every dinner table: "Eat your vegetables!"

Perhaps this saying has stood the test of time because it is true?

Have we allowed excess in an area we once had moderation?
